  • Movement Lab Collective- Windham, ME

    August 18th, 2023

795 Roosevelt Trail, Windham, ME 04062

MLC is located in the Windham mall and parking is best found in the back of the building, otherwise you’ll have to walk through the small mall to get to MLC. Once you park (in the back) and go through the doors MLC is to your immediate right.

They have multiple classes, times for specific ages and open gym times. All of which are priced differently. We only have attended a handful of times during toddler time, which is $17.50. This session runs every Saturday 10am-10:50am. In my opinion this is very pricey. If your kid is older and very into ninja stuff and very agile it might be worth it. There is a waiver that needs to be signed before playing.

There is an array of wooden boxes to jump onto. As you can imagine small children and toddlers cannot active this. There is a wooden structure with metal poles to walk across. When my daughter was three she could do this while holding my hand. She can now do it by herself. There is some round gymnastic holds above some very padded and springy floor boards. Above your head at any given time you will likely find bars at different heights to swing from. A few ramps to run up and like on American ninja warrior they have GIANT curved wall to run up either to the top or as high as your kid can. There’s a spot for wall walking and like most of these more adventures obstacles, it’s padded below. Monkey bars and a salmon ladder can also be found in this establishment. Mostly occupied is a big rectangular trampoline. They ask only one child at a time so waiting for it can be daunting for others. There are different types of rope to attempt to climb up or like my daughter does, to just swing on.

There’s a small, uncomfortable, very well used couch for those who wish to sit but with the equipment here I can’t imagine not staying with your young ones at all times. The owner usually has their very friendly dog inside. He or she doesn’t bother guests. The owners/coaches are very friendly and you can find them practicing their skills as well and they are very open to questions and giving tips and advice.

The toddler time is great and they suggest 2-4 years of age but I think 2 is still quite young for this place. MLC is more for older kids who want to practice ninja skills. If this sounds like your kid, I do suggest you check this place out because it is really cool and could be really fun for the right kid. This isn’t to say it isn’t fun for my kids because we have been coming here for about a year a handful of times. My daughter has always loved it and she gets more confident each time. My son liked running around and attempting the things his sister did. He mostly enjoyed the music playing from speakers near the couch though.
