    August 21st, 2023

150 Ocean Ave, Portland, ME 04103

Lots of parking, easy to find and the walk to the playground doesn’t take up much time at all.

There’s two tents shading lots of tables and benches for those summer days that feel borderline like h e double hockey sticks.

The bright primary colored play ground itself is huge, in length and height. There’s multiple ways up, ladders, holey wall, rock wall, a net, some stepping stone type thing and one set of normal steps. There’s bridges and curves for your kids to run across. The playground is big enough for parents to follow their kids up if they want too. There are three very tall, very slick slides and one small slick slide. My 17m old loves slides of any size and he enjoyed all of them. Though I and my husband did walk up with him because of the height of the playground and the numerous openings at the top. My 4y loved the entire playground and had plenty to do.

Separate from the playground was a structure of various monkey bars. My 4y doesn’t like monkey bars but there was a nifty 3y showing off her skills. There’s a yellow hanging spinny thing. Kids hold on and it moves with their weight. Neither of my kids liked this. Behind the playground is a LOTS of swings. No bucket swings but regular swings were not in short supply and the end are two seated swings that “buckle” your kids in. My 17m old LOVED these and my 4y like both types of swings provided.

Behind the swings is a small and very easy trail. I say that having took what looked like the shortest path but I could see other paths leading deeper into the woods. Along the path is little boxes on posts with artwork by children at the school. I carried my 2m and my other two walked on their own stopping and checking every single thing out, from broken trees, to plants, snails and the boxes that line the path every so often. This path would be great for some sort of nature scavenger hunt! The path we took led us right back to the playground.

In front of the play ground are a couple of wooden bridges and lots of court games paints on the road that then leads to a small garden to look at. Near these areas are some rocks and stumps to balance on.

I absolutely love this playground. I wouldn’t take JUST my 17m old here because of the height of the playground (I’d rather not HAVE to hover over him the whole time). But as a family going its perfect because dad and I can switch off hovering while the other plays with our 4y. There’s cute little pretend play shops too that could keep a toddler entertained. The trail is an extra bonus- it’s a good way to cool down after some hard playground playing and there’s chance for a lot of fun on it if your just strolling it. If you have older kids who aren’t playground material they could bring a ball and play any of the various court activities including basketball.
