  • Bonney Park

    August 22nd, 2023

284 Main St, Auburn, ME 04210

It’s easy to find and easy to park. Also easy to get to but I don’t think you’ll want to.

This place has so much potential and it’s too bad I don’t know if it’ll ever be reached. While I don’t care about homeless people being in the vicinity what bothered me is the drunk at 10am homeless group screaming from across the field about a fight they were previously in. Yes I heard it from a long ways a way, meaning my kids heard too. There were cigarette butts, bottles of soda half empty, blunt wrappers, old half eaten food and random trash all over the ground AND the playground itself.

The playground itself, like I said had trash on it and it just seemed dirty. Like I know it’s outside and sure things outside especially playgrounds get dirty but this one just looked….not good. While I did let my kids play while I looked for another park as quickly as I could. My daughter had fun. I had to hold both my screaming 2m and my 17m to keep him from picking up all the trash.

There were some steps that lead to some slides and a tic tac toe game. From here you can either stop and go back down the way you came or climb up another ladder leading up do a bigger slide or another curved ladder or a step ladder type thing. Take any of these down or take the handle bars to get across to the other side where there is a twisty slide. Near here is a firemas pole, another ladder and a spiral ladder all leading to the same twisty slide.

I believe there is a trail or path for walking and there’s definitely a big field because I heard the drunk group yelling in it. This definitely will not be a place I go back to. I was highly disappointed because it does have a lot of potential. The field is very pretty and I did see a lot of people going onto the trail or path, again, we hightailed it out of there as soon as I found somewhere else to take them, so about 20m.
