  • Community Park at Lakeside

    August 29th, 2023

15 Village Green Ln, Naples, ME 04055

Let me start off with this: this playground can’t be searched on Google nor is this the address but it is the address to the town hall in Naples which is right next to the playground. Parking is limited but you should be able to find a spot. There is a porty potty in the parking lot.

Once you find the park and enter through the small latched gate you’ll immediately see a toddler size playground in the shape of a dinosaur. It has a way up by a small curved plank ladder and some small steps. Both ways lead to a small double slide. To the side of it is a pair of bucket swings. In front is a big swing set with bucket and regular swings.

The bigger playground had lots of ways over, across and up to the top. The first set of steps leads to a wood sturdy bridge that leads to a double slide. Kids can exit this side of the playground to go to the other by swinging bars or ninja steps. There are some square steps on the side next to the regular steps that lead to various monkey bars.

Should your kid go to the other side of the playground they go up by multiple ways. One way is a ramp towards the back near the various monkey bars and handle bars. If they go up the ramp they’ll come to a tic-tac-toe game to play. Another way up is a larger curved plank ladder. Both the ramp and the ladder lead to a see through metal tunnel. Through the tunnel, kids will come to two curvy bars to get down (or up) by hands or almost a crawl like movement. Across from this is a alternating foot ladder. Straight ahead from the tunnel is the curved slide. At the top of the slide are some turning gears. At the bottom of the slide is a double sided board to learn braille.

Spread around in a field across from the playground are various climbing equipment. One is a balance ladder, it tilts side to side as you climb up/down. There is tall net climbing sturcture and some more of those bars where you can use hands to go across or a crawling type movement. There are various size hanging bars and a merry-go-round. This stuff has the potential to get hot because it is not in any shade whatsoever unlike the playground.

There are two covered tables. Next to them is a small sandbox that could use some maintenance. My kids who normally smell a sandbox from miles away didn’t so much as look at it. There were HUGE piles of woodchips piled around, unsure if the toen is planning on using it for the playground itself, but my daughter and the other kids were using them as mountains to climb, jump and slide down.

This is a pretty neat playground. It’s about 30m from Gray, ME. It has a bathroom, it’s shaded and there’s tables. All bonus points in book. Some of the equipment is definitely for older kids, like the various bar structures. My 17m could’ve maneuvered around all of it some supervision. My 4y did most of everything except the bars (she typically doesn’t like them). I definitely think this playground is worth checking out if you’re in the area or if you live nearby (30m is close enough for us).
