  • Playground on Applecrest Drive

    September 23rd, 2023

    29 Applecrest Drive, Yarmouth Maine

This is a very smallt neighborhood playground and unless you’re close by or live within 15m of here it isn’t worth a drive. First, I’m not sure the name or the actual address but if you use this address to get there you’ll have no problem. Parking isn’t a problem either and it’s street parking.

You’ll walk through a small field to get to the playground. The first piece of equipment you’ll come across is a see-saw that holds up to four people. The see-saw is firmly in the ground of a giant sandbox, although the upkeep is not there so the sand isn’t really able to be played with. Next surrounding the main structure is a tire swing and a swing set that’s has a bucket swing and a couple regular swings and lastly a spinning tube thing with handles on the side. Kids stand on this and run while they hold onto the handles for balance.

The main structure is small. Really small. I recommend two…MAYBE three year old MAX. There are a two ways up this structure, the steps and a rounded three step ladder. Going up the steps leads you directly to a double slide. If you turn immediately right after the steps you’ll come to a small red tunnel. The tunnel is very small or my 4y is very big, it’s probably the latter. After crawling through you’ll come to the top of the ladder climbing thing or a somewhat twisty small slide. Beneath the structure is a cutout circle and a square “booth” for kids to carry out their purchase of wood chips and sticks.

The playground is in a nice area, it’s shaded. Great things but there’s also a lot of cons for this playground. There’s no bathroom, the equipment is pretty worn down and it’s a little a ways away for the time able to spend here. Basically I don’t think the playground makes up for the amount of time driving here. It’s very small and older kids will get bored fast. At least mine did. There is a small field next to the playground however kick a ball far enough and it’s in the road. If you live in Yarmouth and just need a half hour of so of play, check it out but you don’t need to see this playground if you live in a different town.
