11 Taylor St, Portland, ME 04102

If you follow GPS you should have no problem finding this playground but parking might be difficult. It’s in the west end of Portland so parking is street parking. I went early enough I think to find a spot just outside the fenced in playground. There are no bathrooms and it is partially shaded. This playground is in walking distance from a Cafe, where you can get sandwiches, coffee and pastries.

Once you enter the fenced in playground you’ll find a small structure and some swings and a bumble bee ride on atop of some springs for kids to rock back and forth. The swing set has two bucket swings and two regular swings. The playground itself has a couple of ways up. As always, the easiest way is the steps. Another way up is by climbing some realistic looking logs. Opposite of these is another way of climbing up, they are shaped like tree stumps. There are four of them evenly spaced with bars on the side for extra support. My 19m old tried this but deemed it too challenging for him while my 4y practically sprinted up them. The three ways up lead to one small double slide. Along the perimeter of the playground, inside the fence, are boulders and stone steps and one bench. Outside of the fence is a small grassy area with some large trees scattered. Behind this is a basketball court.

This playground is most suitable for kids around two years old and under but I suggest they be able to walk and climb to really take advantage of this playground. The coffee shop nearby is enticing for those pushing their kid in a stroller. My four year old got bored very fast here, although she really liked the climbing logs. If you live in the west end and are looking for a quick place to get your kid out, this is a nice little stop. I would not make this playground your final or main destination as it’s small, there isn’t a lot to do nor is there anything here that most playgrounds have and if you have kids in a different age range, the older one will likely get bored quickly. Plus with the parking being so hit or miss, you’re better off going to a more open, less secluded playground that can entertain for a bit longer and for more than one age group.
