I saw this playground as I was driving to a different playground and I knew we’d have to come back to it. It is HUGE, it reminds me a lot of the playground at Ocean Ave Elementary in Portland.
Finding it wasn’t an issue but I did have to circle the block to find the parking lot in the back. It’s quite a walk from the parking lit to the playground no matter where you park.
Once there through the fence, the first two pieces of equipment are spider web climbing domes. Directly behind those is the tall, large play structure. A set of stairs is the easiest way up and more likely the way up for parents if you want to follow your kids up. Other ways up include a net type thing but made of chains and rubber for easy gripping. Ladders and steps can also be found all around as a way up and down. A big rock wall on the backside is another. To get from one side of the sturcture to the other you’ll follow curvy bridges and some low steps. Some of the sturcture is shaded by rooftops and others are not.
On each side of the the playground is various slides, some double, singular and some really long ones. Go down any of them to get to swingsets that line the perimeter. Mostly all regular kid swings with a few bucket swings. Tucked in the corner of the playground is various types of handlebars and monkey bars. Ones that go up and down, a circular one, some that spin, all were unique and really I haven’t seen that many types of monkey bars before.
There is a small toddler playground area. It has three slides and a ramp to go up and down. A miniature version of stepping platforms is the other way up, with four of them total. This was occupied the entire time. I didn’t have my 17m son with me but I’m sure he would’ve been occupying it too!
There is a ginormous basketball court and field. Across the field is a porty potty, I’m glad we didn’t need to use it because it probably would’ve taken all of our energy to get to and from it. There are some shady spots but for the most part it’s completely in the sun. We came on a Wednesday mid morning and it was very busy.
While I probably won’t come here again JUST for this playground, if I’m in Brunswick I’ll definitely stop here again. If I want something similar to this I’ll go to the Ocean Ave playground in Portland, half the distance for me. If you live in Brunswick or are closet than I am (40m) it’s worth checking out. There’s a lot to do and it has a nice field to sit and have a quick snack or to take just take a seat when your kid starts to lose steam. My 4y definitely loved it and my 17m would’ve liked the toddler area. However he would’ve eventually made his way over to the bigger area with more things to do and with its height and all of the openings at the top. I definitely would have to follow him up and down. There were a lot of kids so I don’t think that would’ve been an easy task.
