This hidden gem is one you’ve probably passed every summer on your way to Sebago lake. There’s a few different attractions but we primarily go during the summer for the Shipwreck Cove. The pricing for that is as follows: GA (use of all slides, 40″ and taller) $15; Junior (use of small slides, 40″ and under) $7.50; Spectator (no use of slides) $10; infants 12m and under are free! There is plenty of seating although only a handful of tables with umbrellas for shade. The walk from the parking lot isn’t far but it isn’t as short as “run back to the car” if you should forget something. Buying tickets online is encouraged but you can purchase when you arrive as well.
Finding Seacoast is easy and very visible from the road. The reason I say it’s a hidden gem is because Shipwreck Cove is tucked in the back, behind the mini golf course (this is probably what a lot of you will recognize). Follow the path along to the parking lot and then by foot make your way to the ticket center. You’ll need to go here regardless if you bought tickets online or not, to get a color coded wristband. This building is immediately to the left, behind the giant high-flying swing after the parking lot. Once you get your bands for the Cove you take the same path to get to the deck house. A walk through the deck house will get you to the entrance of Shipwreck Cove.
Now, I want to preface with this, this is not a water park per say. It’s more of a big splash pad with lots of lots of water. I think this is great because it means babies can tag along and stay cool on the ground level splash area! On the ground level, literally the cement ground, there’s a dozen or so spouts of water shooting upwards. My kids love to start with these to get psyched up for the cold water dropping from all over the structure. There’s different types of areas that spray water in all different directions without having to actually go up on/into the sturcture. With that said there is a bucket at the very tip top that fills and then dumps on the kids below and it does hit somewhat hard so a baby sitting in the proximity probably would have an awful time if they got hit by it.
Venturing up the six stairs to the “small” slides is a breeze unless the bucket tips on you while you’re on them. Even if the bucket doesn’t tip, you are still bound to get soaked. There are water spouts and cannons every where it’s impossible to stay dry (but who wants to do that anyway). The red and yellow water slides are side by side. Kids will slide into about a foot of water. It isn’t that steep or fast at all but definitely might be intimidating to a small child, under 2. As I mentioned there’s water spouts every where and these slides are no different. Water falls from atop the entrance and more water from the back where you sit. There is also small water spouts on the side that aim towards the middle of the slides for more fun.
The “big” slides are blue and green. They both are covered and both are spiral. I can’t say what the inside of them is like because I’ve never gone in, neither have my kids. They end like the smaller slides though with a foot or so of water!
That is literally it. For the water area, anyway. It doesn’t seem like much but it is. Shipwreck Cove is done in two hour time blocks and closes in between each one for a fifteen minute clean. Two hours goes by fast! My kids always want to stay a little bit longer! I’ve brought my kids as young as 6m here and I’ve brought my nephew whose 8. There’s never been a concern in any of those ranges about whether or not they’d have fun. In fact I think a twelve year old would have the same amount of fun. Overall I think this is somewhere you should definitely visit during the summer. It’s friendly for all ages (even adults can play). There’s plenty of seating in the form of lounge chairs, a rock half wall, and a dozen or so tables with umbrellas. We have gotten food once or twice before and it definitely is not worth it. They do say no outside food allowed but when my kids were infants we brought pouches and small snacks and it was never an issue, I just wouldn’t bring a cooler of food because you’ll probably be asked to not bring it in. It’s officially summer in Maine and you should definitely visit Seacost for some summer time fun! Let me know what you think if you’ve been before and if haven’t, get there and let me know when you do, you may just catch us there too!
As I said before we primarily come here for Shipwreck Cove but there are other attractions. There is a giant high flying swing, 18 hole mini golf and go-karts. I don’t know the pricing or height requirements for said attractions but this link should take you directly to their pricing page.
