Black Point Community Park

160 Black Point Rd, Scarborough, ME 04074

GPS will tell you have arrived at little early or late depending on where you’re coming from but there is a stone sign will the park name on it and that’s where you’ll turn. Follow a small road that opens up into a giant parking lot. There is a seat or two for parents and a porta potty. The playground is small and 100% in the sun. Adjacent to the playground and parking lot is one big field with one disc golf net off to the side.

The playground is a step and stones throw away from the parking lot. There’s an opening in the two rail post fence and that’s where you enter. My kids first noticed the bumble bee on a spring. There is a front seat and back seat and kids rock back and forth. My 18m had no issue climbing up and down by himself. There is a set of swings, two bucket and two regular swings. To get up the playground you can go up a couple steps that lead to a tunnel on the left. On the right is an opening for a slide/rocky climber for young toddlers who want some climbing practice. In front of the steps is a small double slide. Through the tunnel, that has for viewing holes on each side, is a tic-tac-toe game. Out of the tunnel to the right is an opening for another way of getting up and down, a triangular alternating climber. At our visit one of these was broken and had a caution sign taped on it. It didn’t pose a risk for my kids, they just climbed around it. Next to the tic-tac-toe game is a small curved slide.

This playground is good for toddlers or even older crawlers. My 4y doesn’t have trouble having fun anywhere but I won’t bring her here alone because there’s just not a lot here for her nor is it challenging for her. It is perfect for my 18m. If you have a toddler I’d check it out because it is very cute. It is away from any busy roads and it is fairly quiet. There are other parks within a few minutes driving time so this park was a great addition to those but it definitely isn’t going to be one of OUR staples.
