Grove Lake Park

2 Fair Street Auburn, ME

This is truly a hidden gem. It takes about thirty minutes from Gray, ME and it’s worth it. This playground is UHMAZING!

Parking on a busy day is difficult but usually you can find a spot. There’s a set of porty pottys in the lot and from the lot a few step to the playground.

There’s a large structure, suitable for most ages. There’s a ramp to go up and to go on this boat ride thing, although unless a lot of kids are on it you’ll find yourself pushing your kid back and forth. Ramps, ropes and bridges are scattered EVERY WHERE on this structure. My 4y could do most if not all of them. Kids can balance across some stepping stones hoisted off the ground. They can climb a rock wall or two if they want! The slides are off all sizes but are in the longer side. This is a ninja course except playground style and I really wish I was small enough to play on it.

The second structure is for toddlers. My 17m played in both. It a smaller sturcture with some steps leading to two different slides. Toddlers can walk underneath and around the sturcture, making a good game for hide n seek with mom and dad. The front end of a boat is in between the two structures and almost always there’s toddlers in it.

Theres some swings to the side of the playgrounds, regular, bucket and one of those parent and me swings with a space to put your phone to capture your littles face as yall swing back and forth together. Also along the perimeter are some music type things. Not over crowded but everyone does want to check it out. There’s a basket ball court as well, although I’ve never seen it used.

The playground itself is surrounded by a body of water. Water that you can swim in! We haven’t gone in too deep yet but my 4y has walked along the edge. You can follow the water around for a nice little break from the playground. There’s some covered tables in the middle of the field but other than that there isn’t much for seating or shade. The field is usually being occupied by some parents wrapped into playing soccer with their littles. I’ve seen birthday parties here and I’m 100% taking that idea and applying it for my daughter’s next birthday.

There is a lot to do here with just the two playgrounds. Add in the perfect picnic spot, swimming, a little stroll, a little bit of kick the ball back and forth and a bathroom nearby? COUNT ME IN. This playground is a must see. A structure for young kids and a structure for toddlers, although a toddler could have fun on the big structure too if you’re comfortable with it. Do yourself, your mind and your kids the favor and GO HERE. While you might not grab a seat to sit back and watch your kids play, at least you won’t have to twist and bend your way through either structure because there’s always atleast another half dozen kids here. That might change as school starts back up but I doubt it, we’ve been on weekdays and other kids were still there.
