The Rumpus Room- Brunswick, Maine

9 Cumberland St, Brunswick, ME 04011

Arrive in a small parking lot to get to The Rumpus Room. Parking can be hard sometimes but more than likely than not you’ll find parking. There is a ramp and stairs to enter the building.

The owner is not always on site so she uses the honor system and expects you to leave payment on the desk or via online payment. For $10 unlimited pay and $5 for adults plus a baby is a pretty sweet deal for this place.

It is a socks only place so upon entering you’ll find cubbies to store your shoes. Beyond that is a giant room that holds a giant play ship with a large slide! To enter the ship there is a ramp for littles to climb up. Kids can go below the deck as well to an open area inside. Also in this room is a climbing dome which I have seen used very frequently! There is a jumping Roo thingy where the kids can hold onto bars and jump as high or as low as the can! There is a ball pit in the main room too! You’ll find a lot of the smaller kids here as it’s very popular with them! Aside from the main room there is a room full of toy houses, play structures, train tables and more! The structures are usually filled with the 1-2yo while the play houses are often occupied by the 3-4yo. Tucked away in a corner room is a play kitchen and play store. There is a grill complete with utensils needed for the perfect BBQ. The shop stand is often occupied by just about every age group. It’s got a scanner and buttons to press. There’s a table also in this room so after your kids purchase their groceries or cook a meal they can sit down and eat it too.

For the parents with crawlers or even the more laid back kids there’s a dedicated room for them too! Lining the back walls are a variety of books and puzzles for all ages. There’s stacking toys and music instruments! Soft mats, climbing mats and soft blocks fill this room. I think it would be impossible for a child or baby to get hurt in this room (or any of them really!).

Because this place is only so big there is very little room for you to lose site of your kid. This is why you’ll find most of the parents in the space next to the main room. It has a soft couch (great place for breastfeeding mamas to stop and feed) and thee or four tables for the a snack break.

The bathrooms are convenient for all. Inside is changing table with plastic bags that the owner asks you dispose of soiled diapers in. The bathrooms are clean and don’t smell of dirty diapers, although the soiled diapers are thrown away in here.

I think this place is a definite must visit place for several reasons. For one the atmosphere is perfect for parents who don’t want to hover but can still check in and find there kids exploring in any of the four rooms. The amount of things to do is endless and each thing allows kids to perfect their skills, whether that’s climbing, jumping, solving puzzles or simply just pretend play.

I don’t have many pictures of this place because this idea of blogging kids places wasn’t even a thought yet but I will return soon and I will add them here when I do. In the meantime, the pictures you can find on Google are accurate enough if you’re looking to actually see the inside.
